Overview
Wherewolf uses a one guest to one waiver structure. This means every participant, including minors, must have their own guest record and their own waiver completed. This ensures that consent is captured correctly for each individual and that your reporting and guest counts remain accurate.
To make this process efficient for families and groups, Wherewolf provides Minor Waiver Looping. Minor looping allows you to automatically show or hide specific waiver questions based on whether a guest is identified as a minor.
This article explains:
- Why minor looping exists
- How a participant is identified as a minor
- How to configure minor looping in your waiver
- How to streamline the waiver experience for minors
Why Minor Waiver Looping is Used
Minor looping is designed to balance legal accuracy with operational efficiency.
Because minors require consent from a parent or guardian:
- Each minor must have their own waiver
- Guardian name and signature must be captured for that minor
- Certain questions may not be relevant for minors
Minor looping allows you to:
- Automatically request guardian details when required
- Hide adult-only questions for minors
- Keep waivers short and easy for families/ groups to complete
How a Participant is Determined to be a Minor
Minor looping is triggered from the Date of Birth page in your waiver.
On the Date of Birth page, you can configure:
- Minimum allowed age to complete a waiver (can be set as low as 0)
- Maximum allowed age to complete a waiver
- Minor age threshold, which determines when a guest is flagged as a minor

Once a guest enters a date of birth that falls below the minor age threshold:
- The guest is automatically flagged as a minor
- Guardian-specific questions can be triggered
- Minor looping rules are applied across the waiver
This configuration is managed in: Settings > Forms https://dash.getwherewolf.com/settings/form
Configuring Minor Looping on Waiver Pages
Some pages in the waiver editor include options to control whether the question appears for minors.
You can choose:
- Show if guest is a minor
- Hide if guest is a minor
These toggles allow you to establish minor looping behaviour across your waiver.
Example 1: Guardian Name Page
The guardian name page is typically configured to:
- Show if guest is a minor
This ensures only minors are asked to provide guardian details.

Example 2: Hiding a Phone Number Page
If you do not want to ask minors for a phone number:
- Enable Hide if guest is a minor on the phone number page
This page will still appear for adults but will be skipped entirely for minors.

Guardian Signature
Guardian signature should be added whenever you use minor looping.
The guardian signature page should:
- Be shown only when the guest is a minor
- Capture consent specific to that minor
This ensures guardian approval is correctly tied to the individual minor’s waiver.
Note: Please also ensure that 'Guest Signature' is set to 'Hide if guest is a minor' to ensure only participants who are not minors also provide a signature.
Streamlining the Waiver for Minors
While minors must complete their own waiver, the process can be streamlined.
We can:
- Remove unnecessary pages for minors
- Loop out questions such as email address or other adult-only fields
This keeps the waiver quick and simple for families and groups while still capturing required consent.
**Multiple Minors on a Single Waiver**
Wherewolf is intentionally built around a 1 guest to 1 waiver structure so that:
- Each minor has their own legally reliable record
- Guardian consent is clearly associated with each individual
- Reporting and participant counts remain accurate
Wherewolf recommends that each minor must have their own guest record and completed waiver.
